Dr. Hrushikesh Mehata, a best spine surgeon in hadapsar has been born & brought up in Pune and comes from very disciplined middle-class family. He completed his M.B.B.S & M.S. Orthopaedics from prestigious B. J. Medical College & Sassoon General Hospital, Pune in 2012. He served as specialty Orthopaedic Medical Officer in Y.C.M Hospital, Pimpri in 2012-2013. He also successfully completed DNB in Orthopaedics in first attempt.
He was amongst one of the few candidates in India who were selected for 2 years exclusive Spine Fellowship by Association of Spine Surgeons of India during which he was trained in all kinds of Spinal Surgeries & procedures. He worked for almost 3 years in Spine Unit at Lilavati Hospital, Wockhardt Hospital, Breach Candy Hospital & V.N. Desai Hospital, Mumbai. He successfully completed Association of Spine Surgeons of India Fellowship & bagged gold medal for it. His training was further continued & became more specialized when he was selected for fellowship at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, UK in spinal deformity. He was also awarded prestigious Indo-American Spine Alliance Fellowship in 2017 where he visited Cedars Sinai Hospital, Los Angeles & did advance training in minimally invasive spine surgery.

Conditions we treat
Slipped disc (Prolapse intervertebral disc)
There are 23 discs in between our vertebrae which act as shock absorbers and facilitate movement in our spinal column along with posterior facet joints. When there is break in outer ring & inner gel like material comes or bulges out it is called as prolapsed intervertebral disc or in common language slip disc. Most commonly it occurs in lower back or in neck.
Sciatica
It refers to radiating shooting sharp pain in legs specific in distribution due to compression of nerve root in lower back. It may or may not be associated with back pain, tingling, numbness & weakness
Degenerative Disc Disease
It refers to age related changes due to wear & tear of the discs. Disc appears dark & blackened on MRI with reduced disc height space seen on X-ray. End plate changes (changes at interface between disc & vertebral body) as well as osteophytes (extra bone formation at ends of vertebral body) may or may not be seen
Facet Arthritis
Facet joints are knee like synovial joints present posteriorly of the spinal column. There are 2 facet joints one on each side in each motion segment of spine. Most commonly seen is osteoarthritis of facet joints. It may lead to fluid collection in these joints, subluxation of joints, hypertrophy of joint, asymmetry of joints
Lumbar Canal Stenosis
It is narrowing of spinal canal in your lower back due to which your spinal cord & nerves get compressed. Patient has restricted walking & pain and heaviness in legs on walking
Spondylolisthesis
It refers to Slipping of one vertebra over other. It may also lead to instability & pinching of nerves.
Lumbar & Cervical Spondylosis
Age related changes in lower back & neck due to wear & tear of intervertebral disc & facet joints
Spondylolysis
It refers to break in continuity of posterior arch of vertebrae i.e. at pars interarticularis.
Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy
It refers to clinical manifestation seen due to compression of spinal cord at your neck region
Spinal trauma & fracture
Any trauma which leads to spinal column & spinal cord injury with or without fracture, disclocation, malalignment or collapse
Spinal Infections
Any infection affecting spinal column i.e. pyogenic, fungal, tubercular or anything else. Most common in Indian scenario is tuberculosis of Spine (POTTS Spine)
Spinal tumours
Any tumours (cancer in common language) affecting spinal column benign or malignant or metastasis

The mission of the foundation is to provide quality Spine Care to the underprivileged, even in the most remote parts of India.This Foundation has been working at various Urban & rural Government hospitals and treating Spine patients free of cost including Free Spinal Surgeries.
Dr. Mehata regularly visits at D. Y. Patil Medical College, Kolhapur and performs 4-6 free Spinal Surgeries for poor patients every 3 monthly. Also, he conducts free online OPD twice a month for poor patients in remote areas. Dr. Mehata conducts free OPD once in a month every last Thursday of the month for poor patients.
